  Groups

All members of eForeverYoung can participate in and create groups.  Public groups allow members the ability to share and participate in common interest activities.  Private groups can be used to communicate and share group information, as well as create events and notify members of upcoming meetings or other events.

What is the process to join a group?

Joining a group is a very simple process.  Privacy settings can lengthen the joining process and some groups that are hidden / secret can not be joined or viewed by anyone else other then the members of that group.  Otherwise, if you are able to view a group, just click on the join group link or request to join group.  If the group is public or “open” you are able to join right away and become active in that group.  If a group is “closed” you will have to wait for an approval from the group administrator before you are allowed to view the group’s content and participate actively in that group. This is further explained in the Site Guide.

What is the process for creating a group?

The “create a group” link is located on the network pages.  Once you have clicked this link, follow the series of steps that involve naming the group and giving it a description, to inviting members and posting the group picture.  Once you have created a group, you are automatically the administrator for that group.  Administrators can invite other group members to become additional administrators.  This is further explained in the Site Guide.

    What is a group sub-category?

The group sub-category is the purpose of your group.  Sub-categories will be more specific to the group, but fall under familiar categories.  For instance, wine and books are not similar, but they both fall under the interests’ category.  Closed or hidden groups might have more specific sub categories than public groups.

What is the difference between the privacy options for the groups?

Groups have three privacy options.  They are listed below.

Public: an “open” group.  This is a group that is open for all members of eForeverYoung to join.  There is no pending request process when a member would like to join this group.  You automatically become a member upon clicking the link “Join Group.”  Notifications about these groups will appear in your “My Updates” depending on your preferences.  These groups will may also be seen on the wellness, interest, and life pages as featured groups members might want to join.

Private: a “closed” group.  This is a group that can be seen by members, but in order to join, you must request approval from the group’s administration.   Once the request is approved you will now be able to see the detailed page of that group, as well as actively participating in the group’s content.  These groups will not be visible to non-members of eForeverYoung.

Hidden or secret group:  A hidden group is only viewable to the members of that group.  No other member on eForeverYoung will be informed of the group’s existence; therefore, the site will never reveal that you are a member of this group.

The system will not accept my group name.

If the privacy of a group is set to “open,” then their can only be one unique name for each open group.  Try a different name because the one you have chosen is probably already in use.

Can I invite non-members of eForeverYoung to be in my group?

Only members of eForeverYoung are allowed to be members of groups.  Administrators can invite anyone on eForeverYoung and they are also able to send emails to non-members inviting them into the group.  The non-members must first register on the site and they will be immediately linked to join the group once they have completed the registration process.  Inviting a non-member to become a member of the group will allow that individual to skip the validation process when joining eForeverYoung.  This will allow them to become a member of the group as soon as possible.

Can I join a group that is in another region?

Yes, group membership is not specific to any given region.  However, there may be groups that pertain to a given region, but if they are public, any member is welcome to join them.

Can I send a message to all the group’s members?

If membership is less then 20, all members can send messages to everyone. However, if the group has more than 20 members, only the administrators are able to send a message to everyone in the entire group.  If you would like to send a message to everyone, you can send it first to the administrator or request to become an administrator yourself.  Administrators will be provided a link on their detailed group page that allows them to send a message to every member of the group.

Can I create an event for my group?

Yes, this is done under the calendar section where members can create events.  Members have the option of choosing any of their groups to invite to their created event.  This is further explained in the Site Guide.

What if a member of the group is posting inappropriate material?

The administrator of a group is allowed to delete any of the group members.  eForeverYoung does not have report posts within a group, but members can report the whole group or request that the administrator of the group take that individual out of the group.  If these problems persist contact the eForeverYoung staff at admin@eforeveryoung.com.

I want to change the group’s name.

Once a group name is set, no one is allowed to change the name.  In order to avoid mass confusion with members of the group, change of name has not been allowed.

Can I add additional administrators to the group?

The group’s original creator has the choice to make newly invited members administrators.  Once a member is an administrator of the group, they will be able to add additional administrators themselves through the detailed group page.  If an administrator leaves the group and returns, they will not retain their administrative role; instead they will have to request to be an administrator from a current administrator of the group.  This is further explained in the Site Guide.

    Can I delete my group?

Only the last member of a group can delete that group.  The group is automatically deleted when that member leaves the group.

Why were pictures in the group album deleted?

When a member of the group leaves the group, or is deleted from membership of the group, their content on the group’s pages will be deleted as well.

I found a group that is offensive, what can I do?

Report the group and eForeverYoung staff will determine if the group should be taken down from the site.  Users creating offensive groups can be banned from using eForeverYoung; offensiveness will be determined by eForeverYoung.  The group must violate the sites Terms of Use in order to be taken off of the site.

Can anyone add pictures to the group album?

Yes, under the album page there is a link to upload your own pictures to a new album or an existing album.

I want to participate in the group discussions, but don’t know how.

For detailed information see the Site Guide.  The process is rather simple.  When viewing a current topic, you can just click reply, and fill in the form, click the button and your reply will be posted.  If you wish to create a new topic just click the “create a topic” link on top of the topic list on the group’s home page.
