  Calendar and Events

eForeverYoung provides registered members a personalized calendar.  Events and reminders populate your calendar.  This feature allows you to keep track of important events, such as meetings, parties, or someone’s birthday.

What should I use the calendar for?

The calendar and events on eForeverYoung are to help you coordinate your active and youthful lifestyle.  Events, birthdays, personal reminders, etc. can be stored on your personal calendar and you will be reminded of upcoming events through your notifications.  When you confirm your attendance at an event, whether it is for a group, your family, or one of your neighbors, that event will automatically be documented in your calendar.  The calendar can be a very helpful tool for a busy individual, and eForeverYoung can help facilitate important reminders and dates through both a calendar thumbnail (small calendar on your home page) and on your main calendar page customized just for you.

How can I create an event?

Events can be created though the members’ calendar pages.  Click the “create an event” link and follow the next steps.  There is some event information that must be filled out (name, date, time, location, etc.), then you can choose who you would like to invite to the event.  Both members and non-members of eForeverYoung can be invited to an event.  Non-member invitations require an email address, these members will be invited to the network, but if they choose not to join, they will still be able to access the event details. This is further explained in the Site Guide.

What if I don’t want to enter in that much information about my event?

You can still make an event and have the description vague and the location TBD.  However, if you want to get people to attend, giving guests a better description about what to expect will most likely boost the attendance at an event you have planned.  eForeverYoung encourages members to use the event invitation tool to its fullest extent.  Date and time must be supplied in order for other members’ calendars to properly document this information in their personal calendars. You can also edit the event after it has been created.

I would like to attend an event, but I was not invited.

If you would like to attend an event you must contact a neighbor who has already been invited to the event.  That neighbor can then request an invite for you through the event creator, done through the detailed event page.  However, if you know the event creator, contact him or her and they can immediately put you on the guest list.

I no longer can attend an event I had committed to, how do I get off of the list?

Go to the event page and switch your response. Remember to include a message that will be sent to the event creator about why you will not be able to make it.

Events I have committed to have not been showing up in my calendar.

Inform eForeverYoung about this glitch and we will promptly address the problem.

How can I invite others to the event?

Additional invites may only be made by the event creator/host.  However, all people attending the event can make a request to the event host asking them to invite someone else.  This process can be done by sending a private message to the event host and asking them if they can invite another individual. Event creators can streamline the additional invitation process by editing the event (located under “Manage Events”).  You could also inform the host that you are bringing a guest by indicating this in your event response. Currently, members are not able to view an invite list; therefore, writing a private message is the easiest way, besides for calling the host.

How can I create a reminder that is repeating over other days?

Currently, reminders are set for just one instance in time.

Can I invite non-members of eForeverYoung to attend my event?

eForeverYoung lets event creators invite whoever they would like regardless if they are a member of the site or not.  Creators must have the email of non-members in order for them to be invited to the event.  eForeverYoung will send them an email informing them of the event and also inviting them to become a member of the site.  Once they are a member they can respond to an event invitation. Non-members will not be able to access the event details.

How come I can’t create an event for all members of eForeverYoung who are interested in attending?

Currently, eForeverYoung does not allow mass public invitations.

If there are not enough people attending, can I cancel an event?

eForeverYoung allows the event creator to delete an event through their event management page.  Once this event is deleted, the people previously invited will receive a notice of the event cancellation.

Why can I not view the events I have attended in the past?

eForeverYoung does not save event information pertaining to past events.

Can I view the calendar or events of my neighbors?

Due to privacy issues, eForeverYoung does not allow members to view other member’s calendars.  Currently there are no public events; therefore, members will not be able to view their neighbor’s events.  If you happen to find out about an event created on eForeverYoung, ask a neighbor to request an invite for you through the events creator.  This can be done on the event detail page.

What is the RSVP process after I have been invited to an event?

After visiting the detailed event page there will be a choice of options for invited members to choose from in regards to their RSVP.  You can choose to attend, maybe attend, or not attend the event.  After making a decision, you will be able to respond to others invited to the event about why you are or are not attending.

I don’t like the title or description of the event, or the description has changed.  How can I correct this?

The creator can manage these aspects of the event through the manage event page.  Once this page is reached the ability to edit an event is located to the right of that event listing.
